City of Palm Coast gets new ‘Sail’ shades

Shade Systems™ is proud to have recently provided its colorful and imaginative ‘Sail’ shades for multiple park locations within the City of Palm Coast, Florida.  Palm Coast is an upscale community of over 100,000 residents located in Brevard County, along Florida’s “Space Coast.”

After an extensive public bidding process, the City of Palm Coast selected Shade Systems as the successful bidder due to its imaginative and colorful ‘Sail’ designs, reputation for quality and service, proven project management capabilities for handling a large-scale multi-park installation, and overall value delivered.

Another major factor in the awarding of the project to Shade Systems was the remarkable level protection provided by our CoolNet™ shade fabrics. Lowering playground temperatures by up to 10 to 15 degrees and providing up to 99% of protection from the sun’s dangerous U.V. rays was essential for the children and residents enjoying the parks.

Susan Knopf, the City of Palm Coast’s Project Coordinator said: “The City of Palm Coast’s goal in adding multi-shade canopy systems over the playgrounds at four City parks was to cool off the playing equipment and shield children from the negative impacts of Florida’s beautiful sunshine. Based on feedback from the public, Palm Coast families love our new shade sails! Although the Shade Systems products have been installed for just a few months, we have had no issues with them and are pleased with their appearance and performance.”

“Playing at the park is a wonderful part of every childhood, but it’s so hot in the Florida sunshine,” Mayor Milissa Holland said in a release. “This is going to give our families some relief from the heat and make our playgrounds more usable all day long. They look cool, too, so that will add to children’s imagination while they play at the park.”

Shade Systems completed the project to the satisfaction of City staff on time and on budget.  The total contract amount of the project was in excess of $400,000.00.
