The Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, Florida's leading daily newspaper, publishes a guest column by Alan Bayman, President of Shade Systems.  Read Alan's comments about the need for shaded areas in public places as a way to fight the harmful effects of the sun's dangerous UV rays. 

Alan writes that much has been said in the media recently about applying sun screens and restricting outdoor activities to the early morning hours and late afternoon.  But is this really a reasonable expectation?  Who will remember to constantly apply sun screens?  And who makes sure they are outside only in the early morning or late afternoon?  The more simple solution is to seek shaded areas in public places, and progressive municipal leaders who are concerned about their constituents' health and safety are responding with brightly colored products such as Shade Systems canopies in public parks, pools, and picnic areas.
